After living in their Bondi Beach home for several years the family opted to reconfigure the interior living spaces rather than purchase a new home. The kitchen is retained at centre stage, completely remodelled to best address the constrained living room and dining spaces. Existing high ceilings, made more dramatic and luxurious by the expansion of the internal footprint are complemented by the addition of a fireplace, skylights, and floor to ceiling operable glazing. The material pallet is enriched by charcoal coloured timber, bamboo mesh and natural stone. And a structural steel beam left exposed to complement the Crystal island pendant by Christopher Boots, transforming the home into a spacious and cool, urban oasis.
